McClure to Take Position With Fire and Ambulance
It may have seemed like a foregone conclusion. The choice for Port Manager, but acting interim manager, Dina Mcclure withdrew her name from the running to accept a position with Western Lane Ambulance District and Siuslaw Valley Fire and Rescue as Officer Manager. A position which embodies similar responsibilities McClure undertakes with the Port of Siuslaw. McClure said she had seriously considered the Port Manager position.
“But when the Fire and Ambulance office manager position was posted it caught my interest. The more I thought about it the more I realized it was the direction that I wanted to pursue.”
McClure says her tenure with the Port has been exceptional and the staff and commissioners have been great to work with but that she is excited to be moving forward at this time.
“In addition to the responsibilities of the job I am looking forward to working with the firefighters, emt’s, the administrative staff and the boards from both districts.”
McClure has served the port for the past 8 years. The port commission will continue to review applications for the Management position.

A New Sign adorns the entrance to the Florence Municipal Airport. Construction on the sign was completed yesterday and some temporary electric was run to illuminate it. An electrical conduit still has to be run from the power source for permanent electricity. It may take public works up to 30 days to get the line installed. In addition to providing a marker for the airport there are several places for additional advertisement for businesses on the airport property, and for possible special event advertising.
