Wrestling Championships Today; California Takes Its Toll on Oregon Schools; Far West League Season to Close; Women’s Roundball; Time For Baseball

Wrestling Championships Today

OSAA State Wrestling Tournament gets underway today at Portland’s Memorial Coliseum.  Three Siuslaw Viking Matmen will compete:  Ricky Huff: Elijah LaCosse; Brady Libby.  Competition begins at 8:30 this morning and will continue until late Saturday afternoon.

California Takes Its Toll on Oregon Schools

Late turnovers were the Achilles hill for Oregon in California last night.  The Ducks went toe to toe with the Trojans but late mistakes allowed for USC to pull ahead in the final seconds.  Final score 72-70.  The loss severely hampers the Ducks post season opportunities.

The Beavers were coming from behind all night long and managed to take the lead in the second half after overcoming a 13 point deficit, but it wasn’t enough to get past the bruins.  Final score 75-68

The Oregon schools change locations and opponents.  Saturday Oregon will play UCLA with a pregame on KCST at 6:30 tip off at 7:15…. Oregon State will face USC at 8 o’clock, pregame at 7:30 on KCFM….

Far West League Season to Close

The final Far West League regular season double header takes to the boards tonight in Myrtle Creek for Siuslaw as the Vikings take on South Umpqua.  Tonight’s pregame on KCST is set for 5:45, the girls game tips off at 6 o’clock, the boys game follows at 7:30 over Coast Radio Sports.

Women’s Roundball

Women’s College Hoops tonight pits Oregon on the Tall Timbres of Matthew Knight Arena against visiting USC at 6 o’clock. While the Oregon State women will host UCLA at 8 o’clock at Gill Colliesum in Corvallis.

Time For Baseball

And college hardball begins this afternoon with Oregon in Las Vegas for the three day UNLV Baseball Tournament.  Up first for the Diamond Ducks is Loyola Marymount, UNLV Saturday, and Indiana State on Sunday… Oregon State is at the Surprise Arizona Baseball Tournament.  Play opens this afternoon with the Beavers taking on New Mexico, Saturday they play Gonzaga; and Sunday Cal Poly.
