One arrest was made yesterday as Florence police in conjunction with Oregon State Police and the Lane County Sheriff’s office converged on a house just off of 35th street yesterday.  The incident began just after noon yesterday as officers responded to a tip.  Commander John Pitcher with the Florence Police Department says the action came after police received information from a source.  Police converged upon the property and found items that were taken from a burglary at Sand Pines Golf Course several months ago.  Police are still investigating and will be releasing more information on the event and the person in custody.

Booster Bash This Saturday

The 14th annual Siuslaw Athletic Booster Club auction and dinner is this Saturday.  Over the past 13 years the event has raised between 25-50 thousand dollars and last years event was able to purchase over 32 thousand dollars worth of athletic equipment and contribute to several projects at Siuslaw middle school and High School.  This year’s event will have a 50’s theme and cost is just $40 dollars per person.  The booster club contributes about 20 percent of the annual school budget for sports.  They also have provided over $6000. In need base scholarships.  This year’s event will take place at the Florence Event Center beginning at 5 pm.

Small Quake Off Oregon Coast

Another small earthquake has struck off the Oregon coast.  According to the USGS the 3.1 magnitude quake hit the outer fault line yesterday afternoon at about 12:40 pm.  The quake was at a depth of 6.2 miles and occurred off the coast just northwest of Bandon.  No watches or warnings were issued.

2nd Saturday Gallery Tour

This weekend is the second Saturday Gallery Tour in Florence.  On Saturday from 3-5 pm Art enthusiasts can enjoy art, refreshments and live music.  Most galleries around Old town will be participating.  More information is available at florencechamber.com.
