Vikings Victorious

The Siuslaw Vikings fought their way out of a 19-0 halftime deficit to defeat the Philomath Warriors.  The comeback started in the locker room at half-time with an inspirational speech by coach Sam Johnson and then orchestrated on the field under the leadership of Elijah Blankenship.  Siuslaw regained the lead by the end of the third quarter with a 20-19 score.  Special teams and defense also played an important role in the win with a key interception by Camp LaCouture and a recovered kick-off fumble.  The Vikings added another touchdown in the fourth quarter and a two point conversion to take a 28-19 lead and the win.

Mapleton Tromps Chiloquin

Mapleton football is on a roll with a victory Friday night against Chiloquin.  JJ Neece rushed for 101 yards and scored three touchdowns.  One passing, one running and one on a 57 yard punt return.  Cody Soverns added 7 rushes for 126 yards and two touchdowns.  On defense Phillip Burnett had 5 tackles, 2 sacks and A.J. Moso had 8 tackles and a fumble recovery for a TD final score 48-14.

Vikings Take Northwest Classic

The Siuslaw Viking Cross Country team took top honors at Saturday’s  Northwest Classic in Eugene.  The Men’s team scored 89 points to lead all schools and senior Brendon Jensen had a 4th place finish in the 5000 meter race with a time of 16:27.20.  The Viking ladies also took top honors in the 5000 overtaking Tillamook by 5 points with a 102 team score.  Senior Hannah Rannow finished third overall with a time of 18:57.07.

Mapleton Volleyball

Mapleton Sailor Volleyball on Friday had the ladies in a double match first with McKenzie in a close 4 set loss and then Siletz Valley with a hard fought 3 set loss according to coach Molly Dooley.

Ducks Claw Grizzlies

The Oregon Ducks were on fire again on Saturday with a 35-3 stomping of the Montana Grizzlies.  All 5 touchdowns from Oregon were at the arm of Justin Herbert.  The Oregon defense allowing only one field goal in the win.

Beavers Too Much For Cal-Poly

The Oregon State Beavers visited Cal-Poly and left a present on the field after delivering a 45-7 loss to the Mustangs.  Senior QB Jake Luton threw 4 touchdown passes and was 17-22 on the afternoon. On defense, outside linebacker, sophomore John McCartan contributed 12 tackles and a sack as the beavers held Cal-Poly to just one touchdown.
