Vikings Opener a Win

The Siuslaw Vikings increased their record to 2-1 on Friday evening.  The Vikings hosted Newport and quickly set them on their heals with two quick touchdowns. Newport fought back and added two more to take a 14-12 lead, but according to coach Sam Johnson, they just stuck to their game plan and continued to march in the end-zone.  The Vikings went for the two point conversion on every touchdown, something Johnson says the analytics of the game tell you to do every time.  Luckily it wasn’t something the Viks needed in this game finishing with 7 touchdowns and 42 points including a 4th down touchdown that initially was going to be a punt, but after a last minute timeout by the Cubs, Johnson unleashed his team to put the final nail in the coffin.  Braydon Thornton caught 3 TD passes on the night, two from Elijah Blankenship and one from Camp LaCouture on the Vikings final possession.
