ReVision Update

Crews continue to work on sidewalk upgrades to the east side of Highway 101, while ODOT prepares the west side of the street for paving.  Yesterday some paving vehicles were placed on side streets and the far west lane of Highway 101 had been ground down in preparation for new asphalt.  ODOT and the City of Florence reminds drivers not to park in the construction area.  Several vehicles yesterday were using the prepped area for parking.  Paving will be done in sections.  The completion date for the project has been moved into November according to city manager Erin Reynolds.

“Due to a variety of circumstances throughout this project we have allotted them an additional 3 weeks.”

Completion should wrap up just prior to thanksgiving according to Reynolds.

Taggers Mark New Concession

Over the weekend vandals struck the new Miller Park concession stand.  Sometime over the period of 9/21 and 9/22 a person or persons added graffiti to the port a potty, and interior wall of the building under construction as well as an outside corner of the building.  Public Works Director, Mike Miller says they are reviewing camera footage from the time period but have not yet determined the responsible parties.  Repair of the Damage done to the structures, according to Miller, will take a couple of hours of pressure washing to remove.  Due to it being an active construction scene the work has not yet been done.

Nova Health Ribbon Cutting

Members of the Florence community and the Florence Area Chamber of Commerce were on hand yesterday afternoon to welcome Nova Health Urgent Care and Primary Care to the Florence neighborhood.  Nova Health hosted an Open House and the Chamber did a ribbon cutting to celebrate the opening.  Nova Health opened in August for urgent care services and earlier this month began offering people an option for primary care.
