Woman Safe After Crash into Water

A woman and her dog are safe this morning after her Honda Accord went off the road and into the water on the north side of Highway 126 at milepost 5 around 5 pm yesterday afternoon.  Oregon State Police along with Western Lane Ambulance and Siuslaw Valley Fire and Rescue units responded.  According to social media posts the woman wanted to stay on the scene until her dog was safe.  The accident is under investigation, but there are currently no reports on whether another vehicle was involved in the cause of the crash.

Career Fair

The 5th annual community career fair is set.  41 local and regional businesses and non-profits will be on hand with job opportunities for young and old.  The event will be at Three Rivers Casino Resort on Thursday, March 5th from 11 am until 3pm.  Three Rivers Casino as well as the City of Florence, the U.S. Coast Guard, Oregon Department of Transportation and Peace Health will be represented.

Salgado to Play for Florence

Florence will again feature the work of internation superstar Curtis Salgado as the Rhythm and Blues artist returns for a one night appearance at the Florence Events Center.  Salgado is often credited as being the inspiration for the Blues Brothers after sharing blues music with John Belushi during the filming of Animal House in Eugene.  The event is presented by the Friends of the Florence Events Center on April 4th at 7 pm.  Tickets for the event are $38.00 and are available at the Florence Events Center Box Office.

FRAA Poetry

This Friday at FRAA there will be a Big Wave Love Gone Wrong Poetry contest beginning at 7 pm with prizes for winning submitters.  There is a 10 dollar admission into the event.  FRAA is located on 120 Maple Street.
