Athlete of the Week
The sports club, the Siuslaw News and Coast Radio Sports congratulate junior Cross Country Athlete Sam Ulrich as this week’s Athlete of the Week. Sam set a personal record in the 5,000 meter run on Saturday with a time of 16:08.8 taking first place in the Nike Cross Country meet in Portland. Sam led the Viking Men to a win in the overall meet with 93 points.
Honorable mention goes to junior Ian Sissel on defense Coach Sam Johnson says Ian was able to control Gladstone’s all state running back making tackle after tackle and holding down the middle of the defense allowing the Vikings to win the game
Siuslaw Soccer
Siuslaw Viking soccer was on the field against Junction City last night the Viking JV team defeated the tigers 5-3. Coach Londi Tomaro said it was a well played game for the Vikings. However the Varsity team did not have the same results. The Vikings managed to score first on a back and forth game, but Junction city pulled ahead 2-1 by halftime. Midway through the second half the Tigers score another goal for a 3-1 win.
Schedule
This evening Viking Volleyball will be at Elmira for a match with the JV beginning at 5pm and the varsity taking the court at 6:30. Soccer is back on the field tomorrow at Elmira at 5:30.
