Two Siuslaw Football Standouts have been named Player of the 2021 season
Braydon Thornton was recognized as the Offensive Player of the year, while Camp Lacouture as selected as the defensive player of the year in the 2021 Oregon 3a Football All State Awards. Thornton was also named to the first team as a returner, wide receiver and running back and 2nd team defensive back. Lacouture also received 1st team linebacker and 3rd team honors as kicker. Also being recognized for their efforts Avery Hart first team defensive line, 2nd team offensive line; Henry Rankin first team offensive line; Rhys Fleming 2nd team defensive line and tight end; Isaac Garza 2nd team defensive back; Ian Sissel 2nd team tight end; Beau Erickson 3rd team Quarterback.
Utes Pac Twelve Champs
Mirror image of an upset from two weeks ago, The Utah Utes dominated the Oregon Ducks Friday night to claim their first Pac Twelve Championship title along with their first ever trip to the Rose Bowl. Utah’s Devin Lloyd returned an interception for a touchdown, Cam Rising threw for another score giving number 14 Utah a 38-10 victory over number 10 Oregon in the Pac-12 championship game. The game delivered coach Kyle Whittingham and the Utes the Rose Bowl prize they had been seeking since joining the Pac-12 in 2011. Oregon accepted an invitation to the December 29th Alamo Bowl and will face the Oklahoma Sooners. The Utes first Rose Bowl will be against Ohio State.
In College Hoops:
Sunday Number . 11 Arizona beat Oregon State 90 / 65. Jerod Lucas scored 17 points to lead the Beavers, who haven’t won since their opener against Portland State. While Oregon fell 69 / 67 to Arizona yesterday.
Prep Hoops:
The Viking Boys are on the hardwood in North Bend facing the Bulldogs in a game that airs at 6:45pm for an extended pregame with Ryan Stalhil. Tip off between Siuslaw and North Bend is at 7:15 pm KCST… Originally scheduled to play in Florence, the Siuslaw Girls Basketball game has been moved to North Bend this evening.
