The Oregon State Beavers had a rocky weekend as the fought for the right to compete in the championship round.  The Beavers led the UCLA Bruins by 9 runs in the 9th inning on Saturday afternoon and squandered their lead with the Bruins tying the game before finishing the inning.  The Beavers added one more in the 10th but the Bruins tied it up and then smashed a 3 run homer to end the game.  The beavers had about 45 minutes to recuperate before taking the field again.  They trailed the Bruins into the bottom of the ninth inning when the Beavers scored 2 runs ending the game.

The Beavers played the Stanford Cardinal for the Championship game last night in Scottsdale.  The Cardinal built a 3-0 lead in the first inning with the Beavers striking back in the top of the fourth cutting the lead to one on three wild pitches and a ground out.  Stanford put two more on the board in the bottom of the fourth for a 5-2 lead.  In the 5th the Beavers scored two more to get within one again and then tied it in the 7th but the Cardinal would drop 2 more in the 7th and 2 in the 8th for a 9-5 lead.  In the top of the 9th, Jacob Melton hit a two out triple, but the game ended on a ground out to first base.  Oregon State will host the super regionals of the College World Series beginning Friday.
