Athlete of the Week; Viking Soccer; Viking Volleyball; Emeralds Final Series

Athlete of the Week

The Sports Club, the Siuslaw News and Coast Radio Sports congratulate senior defensive back Hunter Petterson as this week’s athlete of the week.  Hunter, in addition to two interceptions, had a 97 yard opposite field rundown to thwart a Newport Cub touchdown, igniting the defense to stop the Cubs on downs returning the ball to the Vikings in Siuslaw’s 44-7 victory.

Honorable mention goes to Landon Curley.  Soccer Coach Londi Tomaro says while Landon is normally an attacking player in their first two games he shut down attacking players allowing very few shots on goal.  His dominant play was instrumental in their win and tie.

Viking Soccer

The  Siuslaw Vikings will host Taft this evening for a battle on the soccer field.  Siuslaw has started their non-league portion of the season 1-0-1 defeating Sweet Home and tying Junction City.

Viking Volleyball

Viking Volleyball still has a couple days to prepare for Harrisbug.  They will face the Eagles on Thursday night at home.

Emeralds Final Series
