Search for Mother and Child
The Lane County Sheriff’s Office is seeking the community’s help in locating a 34 year old woman from the Florence area. On or about September 3rd or 4th it is believed that Kristin Williams and her 1 and a half year old daughter Skye left their residence and has not been seen nor heard from since. Kristin is a white female about 5’5” heavy build with blonde hair and blue eyes. Skye is described as a black female 2’9” 32 pounds with black hair and brown eyes. Candidate Forum Upcoming
November elections will be upon us soon and October 5th Coast Radio will host a non-partisan candidate forum at the Florence Events Center. The forum will include Mayoral candidates and City council candidates for the city of Florence as well as the two candidates for the Lane County Board of Commissioners. While all these seats are non-partisan this will be a transitional time, especially for the city of Florence with Mayor Joe Henry and councilor Woody Woodbury not seeking re-election and the retiring of county commissioner Jay Bozievich. Coast Radio is seeking the community’s input on the questions that it will be asking candidates. If you have a question you can email them to news@kcst.com or find the submission form on the station website at kcst.com or kcfmradio.com. the two hour forum will live on 106.9 KCST from 4 until 6 pm and will be recorded and replayed the following day on KCFM at 104.1 or 103.1 Mapleton. Questions must be submitted by 5pm on October 3rd to be considered for the forum.
Fire Weather Watch
The national Weather Service has issued a Fire Weather Watch for the Central Oregon Coast for Friday morning through Saturday morning due to wind and low relative humidity forecast for the area. Humidity is expected to be as low as 25% for the period with winds that could gust up to 40 mph. critical fire conditions are forecast and there may be Red Flag Warnings associated with the watch as Friday approaches.
Temporary Bridge Closure
Overnight work on the Siuslaw River Bridge tonight is going to restrict traffic on Highway 101. The Oregon Department of Transportation will be allowing one lane of traffic between ten pm and midnight as they work on the drawbridge. Traffic in both directions will be closed completely between midnight and one AM. Then, it will be back to one lane again from one to 5 Thursday morning. Emergency services are prepared for the situation. Matt House with Western Lane Fire and EMS says they’ll rely on existing volunteer and career services south of the river for fire protection, plus an extra ambulance will be positioned south of town.
