Safe Holiday

This holiday weekend the Florence Police will have added patrols on the streets of Florence dedicated to enforcement of curtailing driving while under the influence.  There will also be increased presence of Lane County Sheriff’s deputies and Oregon State Police around the western Lane County area.  Individuals should plan ahead for parties and festivities that they may be headed to and have a designated driver or make use of a transportation service.  Fines can be very stiff including loss of license and vehicle, but the potential for loss of life is the biggest risk. if you are hosting a party, make sure to offer non-alcoholic beverages and be aware of patterns of behavior and be willing to not serve someone that may be intoxicated.
