Paid Leave Program
The Oregon Paid Leave Program is growing according to data from the Oregon Employment Department. As of October 2 more than 10,000 applications have been approved. The OED has received more than 20,000 applications since the programs inception on August 14. Benefits started going out on September 13th. Paid leave Oregon director Karen Humelbaugh says if you have applied there are several ways to speed up the process. One is by informing your employer about leave before you apply and by reviewing the checklist provided by the state to make certain you have the proper documents. She says claims that have the incorrect documents or have not notified their employer of their intent may be delayed. She also says that in recent weeks the programs speed of approval has significantly risen. To date about 15 million in benefits have been approved.
Money For Arts
Florence did not make the list of more than 150 organizations that received a part of an almost 1.5 million dollars disbursement of funds from the Oregon Arts Commission. Several organizations in Lane County were chosen from Eugene to Cottage Grove. Awards ranged from $3,000 to $25,000 of unrestricted funds for non-profit organizations that have the arts as their core mission.
