Road Open, Repairs Continue

The Oregon Department of Transportation has cleared most of the debris from highway 126 and the link between Florence and Eugene has reopened.  Last night about 5:30 ODOT lifted the restrictions, but there is still much work to be done to repair portions of the road and guardrails along the 30 plus mile portion of the highway. Weather conditions continue to improve with temperatures expected to be above freezing overnights.  However, rain is still forecast for much of the coast and inland along the corridor and could produce additional problems for motorists.  The extremely wet conditions could still cause trees and mud and rock to break loose and drivers should stay alert.  Highway 36 remains closed from Swisshome to milepost 39.  There has been no update on that progress from ODOT.

Power Repairs

Pacific Power customers in the Willamette valley can soon return home. According to the company about 80% of Residents in the Lebanon, Sweet Home, Goshen, Cottage Grove and Creswell should have had power restored by 10 pm last night. With some outages extending into today and Saturday.  Over the past several days visitors to the coast extended their stay in part due to the closure on 126, but also due to not having power in their homes in the valley.

LCOG Offices

Lane Council of Government says all their offices, meal services and Senior Disability services will be closed for another day, with the exception of the offices here in Florence.  Florence offices will be open regular hours today.

Hackers Tactics

Hackers are constantly working on new ways to steal you personal and financial information with threats showing up on an almost daily basis.  According to Robbie Wright with local fiber and internet company HYAK people should consider using Multi-Factor Authentication.  The process adds layers to help the user secure their information by tying a software to another device such as your phone to allow approval.
