“You know the game show, two families go head to head.  Well, instead of families it’s going to be Florence residents and organizations.  We’re going to have some pretty cool people up on stage.”

Advance tickets are available right now for just $40 which will get you into the show, with a few extras…

“A wide variety of silent auction items, gonna have some pretty cool stuff there.  But in addition to that we’re going to have a chocolate fountain and then we’re going to have a nice charcuterie board.”

Morgan says more information, including how to purchase tickets, can be found at Florence-food-share-dot-org.

Yard Sales

If you are a fan of yard sales this is your weekend.  There are two opportunities in Florence to peruse bargains. The Florence Arts, Culture and Entertainment will hold their annual event at the Florence Events Center tomorrow from 10 am until 4 pm, and Shoreline Christian School is hosting a fundraiser yard sale in the school’s gym behind Wildflower Montessori School at 4445 Highway 101. From 9am until 5pm today and Sunday. Choose from household goods, books, clothing, tools, records, jewelry and more this weekend.

Listening Session

The Mapleton School District is planning a listening session to address concerns that parents have over school policy.  Renewed interest in statewide mandated policies regarding transgender students and other inclusive language has surfaced and the board has spent some of their time in their last two meetings hearing public comment.  The board has not yet set a date for the session, but it is expected to be announced soon.

Mental Health Event

Recent numbers indicate that over 20% of Americans are struggling with mental health issues and that Oregon has one of the highest rates of depression and suicide.  Chief John Pitcher with the Florence Police Department recently said that their department deals with way too many suicides here in Florence.  Statistics show that Lane County has the highest rates in Oregon. in response to the critical status in Mental Health the Florence Seventh Day Adventist Church is hosting a National Mindfit Seminar.  The event will be over three days and broken down into four sessions beginning on Thursday, April 4th at 6pm. for more information and other session times visit mindfitevent.com.
