Kale Jensen has “leapt” into the Siuslaw High School record book. The incoming Viking Junior competed at a recent “all-comers” meet in Eugene. Competing in the high jump he cleared six feet, two inches, putting him into a 5-way tie for ninth place in that category. His mark is also the 2nd highest recorded in the 21st century for Siuslaw according to athletic director Chris Johnson. Bryce Siegel cleared six-four in 2007. The school record is held by Siuslaw Hall of Fame member and current building contractor Mike Roe. He jumped six feet ten inches in 1979. Roe’s mark is also the state record in the 4A classification.
Editor’s note, Jensen cleared 6’2″ Thursday night at another meet in Eugene. That means he is holds the 8th highest high jump in Siuslaw history.
The Eugene Emeralds return to Northwest League play this evening in Pasco, Washington where they open a three-game road series against the Tri City Dust Devils.
