Search And Rescue

The Lane County Sheriff’s Search and Rescue team have reported a busy week of training throughout the county, but on Saturday responded to a real-life rescue situation at the Cummins Ridge Area just north of Florence.  Sheriff’s personnel from Lane County along with help from Lincoln County Sheriffs were on the scene trying to locate a 63 year old female ATV rider.  She was located 200 feet below the road.  Western Lane Fire and EMS along with Yachats Fire and the Lincoln County Technical Rescue unit worked for about 3 hours to safely pull out the woman.  She then had to be life-flighted to Corvallis for treatment of her injuries.  LCSO Sgt. Tim Wallace reported that the woman had been wearing a safety helmet and likely contributed to saving her life.  There is no information on where the woman was from.

Radio Auction

Friday August 23 there will be $26,000 worth of items to be auctioned off at the Coast Radio Summer Auction.  General Manager Jon Thompson says the list of items will be upwards of 100 and vary from a Powered recliner, hot water heater, computer, and attraction tickets and dining packages.  There will also be staycation type items from the Carriage House inn, River House Inn, Old Town Inn and Best Western Pier point inn and 7 feathers casino.  The Auction will begin at 9:15 that morning and go until the last item is auctioned off.  Thompson is quick to point out that this is not a charity auction, but a chance to support your local radio station while getting discounts of 50% or more on most items.  The process is smoothest when bidders call beforehand to receive a no obligation bid number at 541-997-9136.  Items for auction are listed on the Coast Radio Website at either kcst.com or kcfmradio.com.
