Vikings Still Undefeated
Eight Siuslaw players scored in their Friday night victory over the Bruins in Brookings. Max Reynolds opened with a 28-yard touchdown run less than five minutes in, followed by Michael Felkins catching a 26-yard pass from Micah Blankenship. Blankenship later connected with Chaz Edblom on a 12-yard TD. Will Johnson scored twice, sprinting for 87 and 49 yards, giving Siuslaw a 44-6 lead by halftime. Freshman QB Jericho Lake added a 22-yard pass to Ryan Klampe, who later sealed it with a 60-yard pick-six. PAT runs were scored by Johnson, Reynolds, Edblom, and Dylan Gray. The 7-0 Vikings, OSAA’s top-ranked team, play 16th-ranked Coquille Friday, with playoffs starting November 8th.
Ducks Rout Illinois
Dillon Gabriel led the Oregon Ducks to victory over Illinois at Autzen Stadium, tallying four touchdowns—three passing and one rushing—in front of over 59,000 fans. Oregon dominated early, scoring five times in the first half and taking a 35-3 lead into halftime. The defense held strong, allowing just one touchdown in the second half, marking only the second time in 10 quarters they’ve given up a score. Now 8-0, the Ducks look toward key matchups in November as they aim to maintain their top ranking.
OSU Stumbling
Oregon State suffered its third straight loss Saturday, falling to California 44-7 in Berkeley. Ben Gulbranson led the Beavers with 131 passing yards and a touchdown to Trent Walker, while Anthony Hankerson added 49 rushing yards. Defensive leaders included Isaiah Chisom and Skyler Thomas Jr., each with nine tackles. OSU (4-4) returns November 9 against San Jose State.
Viking Soccer League Playoff
Tomorrow the Siuslaw Viking boy’s soccer team will host Sisters in a league playoff. The Vikings are coming off a 9-1 win over La Pine while the Outlaws have suffered three straight losses. The game will begin at 6pm.
