Football Honors

Several Siuslaw Vikings have received honors in Football. The announcement was made Friday honoring Will Johnson, Ian Sissel, Max Reynolds, Michael Felkins and Jacob Mann.  Johnson and Sissel were 3A first team with Reynolds, Felkins and Mann receiving second team honors.

Viking Wrestling

In Wrestling over the weekend the Siuslaw boys garnered a 13th place finish, however star wrestler Jacob Mann continued his win streak improving to 11-0 on the season and dominating the competition at the Grants Pass Winter Kick-off taking the 215 pound title. Freshman Yair Brito Xilot won the 120 pound title.  The girls placed 5th overall with Seniors Abby Riggs at 115 pounds, Macali Lade at 120 and junior Danin Lacouture at 145 each taking second place.

Viking Basketball

In basketball on Friday the Viking girls had a good showing against toledo leading their opponents at half time, however the Boomers surpassed the Vikings in the second half defeating the Vikings 32-24.

The Viking Boys took no prisoners in their matchup against Toledo improving to 5-2 on the season with a 72-29 drubbing of the Boomers.  Michael Felkins led the Vikings with 22 points, Micah Blankenship added 17. Each player for the Vikings scored at least 2 points on the night.

Rose Bowl

The Oregon Ducks will face Ohio State in the Rose Bowl on January 1st after the Buckeyes handily defeated the Tennessee Volunteers on Saturday 42-17.

College Hoops

The Oregon Ducks defeated the Stanford Cardinal in basketball 76-61 improving to 11-1 on the season while the OSU Beavers defeated Charleston 74-64 in Hawaii.  They face Oakland university this evening.

Mapleton Basketball

The Mapleton Sailors boys varsity basketball team fell to 2A Enterprise, 72-50, in the Bobcat Classic, but senior point guard Alex Burnett shined with a career-high 37 points. Burnett’s scoring spree, including six three-pointers and 12 second-quarter points, nearly matched the all-time single-game scoring record for Mapleton. The Sailors fell to Harper Charter 34-30 on Saturday.
