Viking Girls Win!
The Siuslaw Viking girls basketball team is celebrating a victory after last night’s win over visiting Douglas. Senior Macy McNeill led the team with 17 points including 3 3-pointers. She also added 7 rebounds, 7 assists and 3 steals. Sophomore Aidell Cadet added 10 points, 4 rebounds and 7 steals in the 39-29 victory.
Viking Boys Win!
The Viking boys also had something to celebrate with a win over Douglas 59-45 bringing them to a 4-1 record in league play. Chaz Edblom led the Vikings with 18, Justin Allen added 12. Every Viking on the court last night scored in the win.
Sailors Win!
The Mapleton Sailors secured a 48-32 win over the Alsea Wolverines on Tuesday, marking their second victory over Alsea in just three days. This time, the game started tighter, with Mapleton holding a 10-6 lead after the first quarter, fueled by freshman Kayden Gutz. Fellow freshman Kam Wilson took over in the second, draining four three-pointers to extend the lead to 30-15 by halftime. The Sailors locked in defensively in the third, allowing just five points, and cruised to victory. Senior Alex Burnett led with 14 points, while Wilson added 12, including four threes. Mapleton, now 9-2 in league play and 12-7 overall, hosts Triangle Lake for Senior Night on Thursday at 7 p.m., honoring captains Dom Stewart and Alex Burnett.
