Track and Field; “W” for Viking Softball

Siuslaw High School athletes posted a series of strong results at their recent home track and field meet. Blu Boehjle placed second in the 400 meters with a time of 54.22 seconds, while Korbyn Marler earned second in the 800 meters. The boys’ 4×400 relay team dominated the field, taking first with a time of 3:40.91. In the field events, Jacob Mann, Joel Sissel, and Maximus Reynolds swept second through fourth in shot put, and Will Johnson cleared 13 feet, 4 inches to win pole vault. The De Leon brothers took second and third in triple jump, and Justin Allen won the 110-meter hurdles.

Mapleton also had standout performances—Alex Burnett took first in triple jump at 36 feet, 3 inches, and pole vaulted 9 feet, 4 inches in his first-ever attempt. In distance events, Natalee Stevens placed first in the 3000 meters with a time of 12:51, closely followed by teammate Lucie Burruss in second.

Siuslaw softball put their first “W” on the charts yesterday with a 4-1 defeat of visiting Reedsport.
