Viking Golf Coach Sought
The Siuslaw Vikings are searching for a new golf coach following the retirement of longtime teacher and coach Chuck Johnson last spring. Johnson revived the program in 2022 and led the team to two state tournament appearances. Applications for the position, which pays between $4,000 and $5,250, opened August 5th and will remain open until filled. Spring practice begins March 2, 2026. Johnson coached standout Ryan Klampe, a four-time district champion now headed to Southwestern Community College. Chrissy Davis has served as assistant coach for the girls’ team throughout Johnson’s tenure.
Ems 2026
The Eugene Emeralds have released their 2026 schedule and will stay at PK Park through at least 2027 as they work toward a new stadium. Highlights include Opening Week April 3rd, a two-week homestand in late April, and the final home series September 1st.
Ems Keep Streak Alive
The Eugene Emeralds defeated the Spokane Indians 7-2 Wednesday night, extending their win streak to five and improving to 29-9 in the second half—now 20 games above .500. Jack Payton led the offense with three hits and two RBIs, while Zane Zielinski added his third home run of the season. Starter Josh Bostick earned the win with six strong innings, allowing just one run and striking out six. Darien Smith closed it out with a rare three-inning save. The Ems now hold a 2-0 series lead and remain unbeaten in series play this half.
