Wildfire Update
A wildfire known as the Schofield Ridge Fire has burned about 50 acres roughly four and a half miles southeast of Reedsport. The blaze is in the Schofield Ridge area, north of Coos Bay, and was first reported yesterday. The cause is still under investigation, and officials have not announced any evacuations at this time. Fire crews are working to contain the spread, and residents are urged to stay alert for updates from local emergency services and the Coos Forest Protection Association. Fire crews were also called out to a small brush fire on North Fork Road yesterday. The blaze was quickly extinguished before it had a chance to grow.
LCSO Phone LInes Out
Lane County Sheriff’s Dispatch is experiencing a phone outage affecting its non-emergency lines, along with several other area dispatch centers. The 911 system remains operational, and officials advise using it for urgent non-emergency needs until the issue is resolved. Landlines are also down across much of the county. Residents unable to call from a landline should try using a cell phone instead. There’s no estimated repair time, and the cause of the outage is not yet known, according to the Sheriff’s Office.
