Stone Back in Action
Siuslaw sophomore Henry Stone returned from injury to place seventh at the Ash Creek Festival in Monmouth, running 16:21 in his first race of the season. The Vikings boys finished third behind 6A schools Ida B. Wells and West Salem, while the Lady Vikings, led by senior Adylin Holbrook, placed fourth. Siuslaw competes next at the Mook XC Invite in Tillamook on Saturday.
Vikings Football Topples North Valley
The Siuslaw Vikings upset No. 2 North Valley 24-23 Friday at Hans Petersen Field, evening their record at 1-1. Dylan Gray’s short touchdown and Will Johnson’s two-point run gave Siuslaw the edge, and the defense sealed it with a late interception. The Vikings now travel to Medford Friday to face top-ranked Cascade Christian.
Ems Season Ends
The Eugene Emeralds’ historic season came to an end Sunday with a 6-3 loss to Everett. The AquaSox took three of four in the series to claim their first championship since 2010. Despite the bitter ending, the Ems closed the year with 81 wins, a scoring record, and a run of eight straight series victories.
Ducks and Beavers
The Oregon Ducks started a little slower against the defense of Northwestern on Saturday, but ultimately were too much for the Wildcats outscoring them 34-14. They will now host the OSU Beavers this Saturday. Also on Saturday the Beavers suffered through a weather delay, only to be owned by Texas Tech. the beavers scored 2 touchdowns late in the 4th quarter to avoid the shutout.
