Power Grid Change for Glenada Hill

There may be a slight disruption to you radio and television entertainment next week.  Upgrades are being done to the tower sight on Glenada hill that could cause a disruption in viewing or listening.  Central Lincoln PUD is planning on moving their power to the site from above ground to below ground on Thursday of next week.  The change comes to help shore up power in times of high winds and winter storms.  The tower site is equipped with emergency power in the form of generators which will be in service during the changeover. However, the notice comes in case of unknown challenges that may arise.  CLPUD is expecting to complete the switch by 4pm on Thursday.

Halloween Activities

It is Halloween in Florence and there are plenty of ways to celebrate it for young and old alike. There is Trick-or-treating and a sale from 11 to 5 at Dragon’s Breath Pottery, and the 14th Annual Haggard Haunted Maze is open from 3 to 8 on 17th Street. Spruce Point offers trick-or-treating from 3:30 to 5:30, and Shorewood Senior Living continues through 6:30. Old Town merchants and Bay Street businesses will have treats from 4 to 6, along with Regency Florence, while First Baptist Church hosts an indoor carnival featuring games, bounce houses, and prizes. Birdies & Bogeys serves a Halloween pasta dinner from 4:30 to 8, and Cross Road Church offers Trunk-or-Treat until 6:30. Florence Christian Church holds its Family Fall Fest from 6 to 8. The evening wraps up with C.R.O.W.’s Haunted Maze at the Florence Events Center until 9, and a 21-and-over costume party at Driftwood Shores from 7:30 to 10:30.

Benefit Dinner

This evening at Nosh Eatery there will be a benefit dinner in honor of Ethan Dougherty. Dougherty was a Siuslaw teacher that died unexpectedly last November.  Family set up a scholarship fund in his name and this evening there will be a benefit dinner with lasagna, salad, garlic bread and lemonade for 12 dollars. There will also be a jack-o-lantern contest for a dollar a vote. All proceeds go to the Memorial fund.  Dinner is from 4-7 for dine in or take out.
