Bus Stops Completed
Installation of the new Rhody Express bus shelters in Florence is now complete. The City, in partnership with Lane Transit District, received a State Transportation Improvement Fund grant from ODOT to replace several deteriorating shelters worn down by the coastal environment. The $60,000 grant, along with a $15,000 in-kind contribution of city labor and materials, funded six new aluminum shelters at key locations across Florence. The upgrades are designed to better protect riders from harsh weather, provide seating, and reduce long-term maintenance. City officials say the improved shelters will enhance comfort and safety, encouraging greater use of public transit in the community.
Brief Interruption Expected
Radio and TV listeners may notice a brief interruption in service this Thursday as Central Lincoln PUD upgrades electrical systems at the Glenada Hill broadcast tower site. Crews will be shifting power from overhead lines to a more resilient underground connection to improve reliability during high winds and winter storms. Backup generators will be running throughout the transition, but CLPUD says a short disruption is still possible. Work is scheduled to begin Thursday morning, with the upgrade expected to be complete by about 4 p.m.
No Meeting Tonight
There is no Florence City Council meeting tonight, and no regular city meetings scheduled this week. The only item on the calendar is a City Council work session planned for Thursday. The next regular Council meeting is set for November 17th, followed by a full week of committee meetings at City Hall.
