Cross Country Championships

Coach Chris Johnson says both teams have shown incredible dedication, with many runners balancing soccer and cross country. Senior leaders Adelyn Holbrook and Abigail Jones helped rally a growing girls squad, while seniors Kale Jensen and Camden Linton lead a boys team blending veteran experience with sophomore talent, including Henry Stone, Ezra King, Bentley Nelson, Yair Brito, and Sailor Jensen. The girls race begins at 10:30, followed by the boys at 11:15.

Viking Football Playoffs

The Siuslaw Vikings football team will step on Hans Peterson field this evening for round one of the state football playoffs.  They will face Gervais. The Cougars are 6-3 overall and 3-3 in league play.  Sophomore Jericho Lake is expected to be behind center with Michah Blankenship back on the field in a receiver position. The game will be at 7pm with a 6:45 pregame on KCST.  Tickets for the game will be available through OSAA.

College Football

The 7-1 Oregon ducks will be in Iowa City for their Big10 game against 10th ranked Iowa. The Hawkeyes will be a tough matchup against the Ducks getting high praise from duck head coach Dan Lanning. Lanning expressed deep admiration for the Iowa Hawkeyes, calling them “a real complete team” with a highly disciplined defense that “chokes you out,” and a standout special-teams unit featuring one of the top returners in college football. He also reserved high praise for Kirk Ferentz, saying he is “a legend” and that he holds him in great respect. Pregame on kcst will be at 11am.

 

The Oregon State Beavers will host Sam Houston tomorrow evening from Reser Stadium with a game time of 7pm and a pregame on KCFM at 6pm. Sam Houston is still looking for their first win of the season while the Beavers hope to improve their streak to 3.
