Cross Country Champions

Seven Siuslaw Viking boys contributed to the team’s point total at the OSAA State Cross Country Championships, including three runners finishing in the top fifteen. Henry Stone led the way with a fourth-place finish in 15 minutes, 52 seconds, followed by Bentley Nelson in tenth and Ezra King in fifteenth. Their effort was enough to lift the Vikings to the top of the podium, capturing another state championship under longtime coach Chris Johnson. For the girls, Adelyn Holbrook was the top finisher in 32nd place, with Pearl Jensen finishing 48th.

Viking Football Season Ends

After a year that saw the Vikings fight through injuries and tough opponents on the gridiron to win their district title, the Vikings fell to Gervais on Friday evening 48 to 28 to cap the Viking’s season. It was a disappointing loss for the Vikings.  The season will wrap up with a visit with coach Sam Johnson on this week’s point after Thursday evening.

Ducks Get Tough Win

The Oregon Ducks had only seconds to secure a win on Saturday against the Iowa Hawkeyes.  It was a tough battle from both opponents and took a last minute drive with only 7 seconds on the clock for the duck’s kicker Atticus Sappington as he drilled a 39 yard field goal to secure the victory 18-16.

OSU Defeated

Oregon State fell to Sam Houston 21-17 Saturday night at Reser Stadium. Anthony Hankerson ran for 166 yards and two touchdowns, becoming the 14th Beaver to surpass two thousand career rushing yards.
