Viking Basketball
The Siuslaw boys basketball team fell to Elmira on Friday 57-40 in Eugene. The Viking girls also suffered a loss falling 56-25. Both teams will be back on the court this evening for matchups against Waldport. Both games will be broadcast on KCST this evening beginning at 5:15.
Danin Lacouture had a 4th place finish in this past weekends North Bend Coast Classic wrestling in the 145 pound class. For the boys Jacob Mann finished second in the 285 pound class.
College Basketball
The Oregon men’s basketball team snapped a five-game losing streak Saturday with a 104–62 win over UC Davis at Matthew Knight Arena. Jackson Shelstad led the Ducks with 21 points and nine assists as Oregon improved to 5–5 on the season.
The Oregon State men’s basketball team earned an 81–70 home win over Southern Utah Saturday at Gill Coliseum. Dez White led the Beavers with 20 points, while Johan Munch added 16 as Oregon State improved to 5–5 on the season.
The Oregon women’s basketball team rebounded from its first loss of the season with a 69–44 win over Montana State Sunday at Matthew Knight Arena. Sofia Bell led the Ducks with 15 points as Oregon improved to 11–1.
Oregon State’s late rally came up just short in a 55–53 overtime loss to unbeaten Arizona State. Tiara Bolden led the comeback effort, scoring nine of her 13 points late, as the Beavers forced overtime after trailing by eight with under three minutes left.
