Viking Basketball
Siuslaw boys basketball picked up a nonleague win Saturday night, defeating North Valley seventy to forty-three at Glenn Butler Court. Sophomore Jericho Lake led the Vikings with fifteen points, while seniors Bryce Franzoni added eleven, and Micah Blankenship and Tom Morgan each finished with ten. Head coach Dylan Perry called it the team’s most complete performance of the season, noting contributions from everyone who played. Siuslaw improves to five and four on the year. The Vikings host North Bend this evening. The game will be on KCST beginning at 4:45.
The Siuslaw girls basketball team dropped a home game Saturday, falling to North Valley thirty-three to twenty-three at Glenn Butler Court. North Valley used an eleven–nothing run in the second half to pull ahead. Junior Aidell Cadet led the Lady Vikings with thirteen points, while Mia Snider added nine rebounds. Siuslaw drops to three and six and will be at Oakridge this evening.
College Hoops
Nate Bittle closed out the year in a big way, scoring 26 points Sunday to lead Oregon men’s basketball to an 80-57 win over Omaha at Matthew Knight Arena. It marked the first time in his career Bittle scored more than 25 points in back-to-back games. The Ducks open Big Ten play Friday at Maryland.
Oregon State men’s basketball opened West Coast Conference play with a 102-64 loss to Santa Clara Sunday at Gill Coliseum. Josiah Lake the Second led the Beavers with 19 points. Oregon State drops to 7-7 on the season. The Beavers stay home Tuesday when San Francisco visits Gill Coliseum.
Oregon State women’s basketball opened West Coast Conference play with a 74-65 win at San Francisco on Saturday. Jenna Villa scored 24 points and Kennedie Shuler added 19 as the Beavers improved to 9-5 overall and 1-0 in conference play. Oregon State continues its road trip Tuesday at 5 p.m. at Saint Mary’s.
The Oregon Duck women will host #6 Michigan this evening.
