Athlete of the Week
The Sports Club and Coast Radio Sports congratulates senior Siuslaw wrestler Jacob Mann as this week’s Athlete of the Week. Jacob cruised to the 215 pound champion title at this past weekend’s Nick Lutz Invitational. Two matches by technical fall and the final in a major decision. Accumulating 16 points for his team.
Honorable Mention
Honorable mention goes to another Siuslaw Wrestler, senior Danin Lacouture who also stood atop the championship podium who won all three of her matches by fall.
College Hoops
The Wisconsin Badgers eked out a win against the Oregon Ducks last night in Wisconsin. The Lady Ducks battled through two overtimes to eventually fall 94-92. The Ducks were led by senior forward Mia Jacobs who scored 30 in the loss.
The Duck men will be on the court this evening for a matchup against #10 Michigan State. The Ducks will be without Jackson Shelstad, who is likely out for the remainder of the season with ligament damage. Pregame on KCST is 5:30.
Oregon State women trailed by 14 points late in the third quarter but rallied for a 69-68 road win over Pepperdine. Jenna Villa led the comeback, scoring 25 points, including the game-winning free throw after an inbounds foul. Lara Alonso-Basurto added 10 points, with 8 coming in the fourth quarter, as the Beavers closed strong. The Beaver men are idle this evening.
