Athlete of the Week

The Sports Club and Coast Radio Sports Congratulate junior Mapleton Basketball’s Lucie Burruss as this week’s athlete of the week.  Lucie had an epic game against Crow last week scoring 16 points with 10 rebounds and 10 steals for a triple double that propelled the Sailors to a 7-0 league record and their 12th win in a row. Burruss continues to be a force on the Sailor team.

Honorable Mention

Honorable mention goes to Siuslaw sophomore Jericho Lake who scored 23 points in the Viking’s win against Sutherlin, keeping the Vikings in the hunt for a playoff spot.

The Vikings play this evening at Home against Coquille.  the girls are up first with a 5:15 pregame on KCST.

Ducks Drop 10th Straight

The Oregon men put together their best offensive night in a month, but a dominant second half by Indiana sent the Ducks to their 10th straight loss, 92-74. Oregon trailed by six at halftime before the Hoosiers hit 17 of their first 19 shots after the break. Wei Lin and Nate Bittle led the Ducks with 15 points each.

Sailors Dominate Siletz

The Mapleton Sailors picked up a dominant 57-22 road win over Siletz Valley Monday night, despite having only 5 players available. Mapleton jumped out to a 17-4 first-quarter lead and took a 36-6 advantage into halftime, marking their fourth straight game holding an opponent to 11 points or fewer in the first half. Sophomore Kam Wilson led the Sailors with 19 points as Mapleton won its fourth straight. the Mapleton Girls also cruised to a victory last night with Lucie Burruss taking the lead in the 51-22 victory for their 13th straight win.
