Viking Basketball
The Siuslaw Varsity Vikings fell to Coquille Tuesday night, 54-21. After trailing 4-2 early, Coquille used a 14-2 run to take control. Leading 20-10, Coquille followed with an 11-0 run to extend the margin and secure the win. Aidell Cadet led Siuslaw with 9 points. The Vikings controlled the boards with 27 rebounds and recorded 12 steals in the game, but couldn’t overcome Coquille’s scoring runs.
The Viking boys handled Coquille last night at Glen Butler Court with a 64-41 victory. the league win helps them in their bid for a post season game, but they still have to perform well and defeat South Umpqua on Friday. the game will be a home game which will be an advantage for the Vikings. Their last meeting saw the Lancers defeat the Vikings 55-44. The Vikings hope to return the favor.
Mapleton Basketball
The Mapleton boy and girls basketball teams will continue in non-league play this evening and face Toledo. Both the boys and girls are headed for post season play and those games will be announced later this week.
