Track and Field
At the Rose City Invite, Siuslaw’s senior Tom Morgan finished 4th in the 200 meters, and Henry Stone took 2nd in the 3000. Will Johnson led the way in the field events, winning the triple jump at 45 feet, 2.5 inches, and adding a 2nd place finish in the long jump at 21 feet, 7.5 inches.
For the Lady Vikings, junior Aidell Cadet turned in a strong day with a personal-best 15.89 for 2nd in the 100 meter hurdles. She also placed 2nd in the high jump with a personal best of 5 feet, 1 inch, and added another 2nd place finish in the triple jump. Danin Lacouture recorded a season-best 37 feet, 9 inches in the shot put for 2nd place, while freshman Sophia Stymans finished 5th with a throw of 33 feet, 5 inches.
Baseball/softball
On Friday the Siuslaw Viking boys battled into the 8th inning in a scoreless game until the Sutherlin Bulldogs broke the tie with a run to end the game 1-0. Game Two for the Vikings was a different story. The Vikings gave up 11 h its and Sutherlin won 11-2. Viking softball continues their struggles dropping the double header 13-0 and 12-2.
Mapleton Track and Field
Over the weekend Mapleton track and field senior Natalie Stevens broke the schools 1500 meter record with a time of 4:54.48.
