Siuslaw Golf
Siuslaw sophomore Mason Wright shot an 85 Thursday at the district golf meet at Salishan Golf Links in Gleneden Beach, finishing eighth overall among 63 golfers from 14 teams. Senior Micah Blankenship followed closely with an 86, good for 13th place. As a team, the Vikings placed eighth with a score of 391. Blanchet Catholic captured the team title with a 321, while Sisters junior Crosby Rawlins earned medalist honors with a 4-over-par 75. Also competing for Siuslaw, sophomore Lucca Flosi carded a 109 and Yair Brito Xilot finished with a 111. The Vikings return to Salishan Monday for the district championships.
Siuslaw Baseball/softball
Viking baseball and softball will be in Coquille today. the double header games begin at 3pm with a 2:45 pregame on KCST for the Viking boys. The Red Devil boys are winless on the season and hope to upset the Vikings, but strong pitching hopes to shut down the attack. for the girls the two teams are closely matched, but Siuslaw was able to shut down Coquille at their first meeting this week 10-0. Coquille has not had a league victory this season.
College Baseball
The Oregon State Beaver will face Long Beach State this evening from California. The Beavers will be on the air on KCFM beginning at 5:30. The Oregon Ducks will face the top ranked UCLA Bruins this weekend in L.A. beginning with tonight’s game at 7pm.
Track and Field
Siuslaw Track and Field will visit Junction City tomorrow for the Junction City Invitational. Events begin at 10 am. at yesterday’s “almost Varsity meet freshman Maren Hughes won the pole vault at 8’8”.
