Viking Sweep District Championships

The Siuslaw Vikings are headed to Hayward Field after sweeping the OSAA 3A Special District 1 Track and Field Championships in Sutherlin. The Viking boys captured the district title with 176 points while the girls claimed the championship with 128. Junior Aidell Cadet set a new school record in the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 15.49 seconds and qualified for state in four events. Senior Thomas Morgan also broke a long-standing school record in the 100 meters with a 10.91 second finish, surpassing a mark set in 1979. Other district champions included Henry Stone in the 1,500, Will Johnson in the pole vault and triple jump, Davian Frazier in the 110 hurdles, and Jacob Mann in the shot put. The OSAA 3A State Track and Field Championships begin Thursday, May 28th at Hayward Field in Eugene.

After defeating #20 Nebraska on Saturday the Duck took #1 UCLA to extra innings but lost in the 11th giving the Bruins their first Big10 title.  Oregon will now host Regional action beginning this Friday.   The Oregon State Beavers will learn later today their post season path.
