Athlete of the Week; Honorable Mention; NCAA Regional; State Track and Field Meet

Athlete of the Week

The Sports Club and Coast Radio Sports congratulate junior Davian Frazier as this week’s Athlete of the Week.  Davian won the 110 meter hurdles in last week’s 3A special District championships to propel him to the State championship this week. Frazier also qualified for the triple jump with a second place finish.

Honorable Mention

Honorable Mention goes to junior Caleb Gray who also advanced to State with a second place toss in the Javelin.

NCAA Regional

The NCAA Eugene Regional is set and will begin on Friday. Game one will be the Oregon State Beavers versus the Washington State cougars. That will be a noon game with an 11:30 start time on KCFM.  Game two will feature the Oregon Ducks against Yale.

State Track and Field Meet

Siuslaw and Mapleton athletes are preparing for the OSAA State Track and Field Championships beginning Thursday at Hayward Field in Eugene. Siuslaw junior Aidell Cadet is expected to compete in four events, including the high jump, hurdles, and triple jump. Senior Thomas Morgan enters the meet as the top seed in both the 100 and 200-meter races, while Danin Lacouture will defend her state title in the shot put on Friday. Senior Will Johnson is entered in three field events, and sophomore Henry Stone will compete in both the 3,000 and 1,500-meter finals. Mapleton senior Natalee Stevens also qualified in four events for the 1A girls championships.
