Athlete of the Week
The Sports Club and Coast Radio Sports congratulate Siuslaw senior Thomas Morgan as this week’s Athlete of the Week. Morgan became the state champion in the 100 and 200 meters t his past week at the 3A championships at Hayward field. posting times of 11:03 and 22:19 respectively.
Honorable mention goes to freshman Sophia Stymans who accomplished a personal best in the shot put placing 4th in the state with a toss of 11.11 meters.
Athlete of the Year Nominees
This year’s nominees for Athlete of the year are stand out athletes for Siuslaw and Mapleton with many multi-sport athletes in contention for award. for the Boys it’s seniors Will Johnson, Thomas Morgan, Jacob Mann and Micah Blankenship and sophomores Henry Stone and Jericho Lake. for the girls it is Mapleton senior Natalee Stevens and junior Lucie Burruss. and Siuslaw senior Danin Lacouture, junior Aidell Cadet, sophomore Maely Chiang and freshman Sophia Stymans. the winner will be announced Monday June 8th at a brief ceremony at Siuslaw High School.
