First Half Closes with a Loss for Ems
The Eugene Emeralds closed out the first half of the Northwest League season with an 11-4 loss to the Tri-City Dust Devils. Eugene got early runs from Walker Martin and a solo home run by Gavin Kilen, but Tri-City answered with seven runs over the third and fourth innings to take control. The Ems added home runs from Jhonny Level and Dakota Jordan, but it wasn’t enough. Eugene still finishes the half as first-half champions with a 42-24 record. The series continues with Tri-City leading 2-1.
Youth Baseball in Florence
Twenty-seven youth baseball teams are in Florence this weekend for the annual Clash at the Coast — the Gehlke Classic at Miller Park. Six fields host play across three divisions, with games starting at 8 a.m. Saturday. Championships will be decided for Rookies, Minors, and Majors in the two-day Father’s Day weekend tournament sponsored by the Siuslaw Baseball Softball Association.
