SDC Vote Possible
The Florence City Council will consider extending incentives aimed at encouraging new housing construction during its meeting Monday night. Councilors are scheduled to vote on Ordinance 3, which would continue the city’s system development charge exemption and deferral programs through June 30, 2027. City staff say the program has provided nearly $977,000 in exemptions since it began in 2018 and is intended to help offset construction costs for homebuilders while a broader review of city fees and finances is completed later this year. The proposal received a 4-1 vote on first reading in June and now returns for final consideration
Mobility Hub Project Planning
The Florence City Council is expected to authorize a major planning contract tied to the city’s Mobility Hub project. The proposed $227,805 agreement with AKS Engineering and Forestry and Walker Consultants would fund a year-long feasibility study and development plan through June of 2027. The project is designed to evaluate future transit and transportation options, including site selection, public engagement, infrastructure needs, cost estimates, and implementation strategies. City officials say the work is fully funded through an ODOT grant, a Lane Transit District contribution, and an in-kind city match.
Mapleton Water District
The Mapleton Water District Board of Commissioners meets tonight at 6 p.m. at the Mapleton Lions Club Kitchen. Commissioners are expected to consider appointing Cameron Forrette to Position 5, administer oaths of office for new board members, and review customer concerns over sewer policies. Other agenda items include project updates on the Rice Road EPA project, intake improvements, wastewater planning, storage tank refurbishment, and a resolution transferring funds to project accounts. The board will also receive financial, operations, and committee reports. Public comment will be accepted for items not on the agenda.
