Call To Action for Postal Service Support; Siuslaw Vision Has New Director; Film For Oregon Coast Gets Top Award

Call To Action for Postal Service Support

Oregonians will join a national day of action on July 28th in support of the U.S. Postal Service, calling on Congress to protect mail delivery and oppose privatization efforts. Organizers say slower delivery times, higher postage costs, and concerns over mail-in voting have fueled the campaign. Oregon Postal Workers Union President Daniel Cortez says service standards have been weakened over time. Supporters point to the Delivering for America plan as a key factor in recent changes, while union leaders argue the Postal Service was created to serve the public—not generate profits.

Siuslaw Vision Has New Director

Siuslaw Vision has named Will Acosta as its new executive director. Acosta is originally from Floresville, Texas, and studied music education at Texas State University. He most recently worked with the Keepers of Heceta Head Lightstation, where he oversaw visitor programs, fundraising, events, volunteer coordination, and community partnerships. Siuslaw Vision Board President Neil Ecker says Acosta’s ability to build relationships and bring people together makes him a strong fit for the organization’s mission. Acosta succeeds the organization’s previous leadership and will focus on supporting community-led initiatives across the Siuslaw region.
