Vancouver Break Ems Win Streak
The Eugene Emeralds saw their four-game winning streak snapped Tuesday night, falling to the Vancouver Canadians 10-5 in the opener of a six-game series. A first-inning error helped Vancouver build a 4-0 lead, and the Canadians added six unanswered runs to pull away. Cam Maldonado paced Eugene with a three-run homer and four RBIs, while Zander Darby extended his hitting streak to 13 games. The Emeralds dropped to 27-21 in the second half and continue the series tonight.
Duck Training Camp
The Oregon Ducks have completed 2 full weeks of preseason practice as they continue preparations for the upcoming season. Following Tuesday’s workout, head coach Dan Lanning said Saturday’s scrimmage featured good decision-making from the quarterbacks, although the process needs to speed up at times. Lanning also praised the defense for attacking the football and said the coaching staff continues to adjust practices based on areas that need improvement, including playing at a faster tempo.
OSU Summer Basketball Kicks Off
Oregon State men’s basketball opened its summer tour of Canada with a 113-77 win over Trinity Western Tuesday night in British Columbia. The Beavers shot 65 percent from the floor, with six players scoring in double figures. Jackson Rasmussen led Oregon State with 19 points, while DeShawn Gory and Chris Johnson each added 18. The Beavers recorded 29 assists and 17 steals. Oregon State continues its Canadian tour Thursday against the University of Victoria.
