The Oregon Ducks will host Portland State this evening from Autzen Stadium. Pregame on KCST is at 6pm with a 7:30 Kickoff. The Oregon State Beavers host the Montana Grizzlies on Saturday beginning at 7pm with a pregame on KCFM and 8pm kickoff
Kyle Named to Paid Coaching Staff for Track and Field
Siuslaw High School Track and Field has a new assistant coach. Kyle King, a 2018 Siuslaw graduate, is joining the Vikings coaching staff after serving as a volunteer assistant last season. King previously coached at Tillamook and Banks and now teaches financial education and Health at Siuslaw High School. Athletic Director Max Perry says King’s connection to the program makes him a great fit for Viking athletes.
Vikings Host Elmira
The Siuslaw Vikings look to continue their strong start Saturday when they host Elmira at 1 p.m. on Hans Petersen Field. The Vikings are 2-and-1 and ranked No. 18 in 3A, while Elmira is 0-and-2 but has dominated the series, winning five of the last six matchups. The game will be broadcast on KCST beginning at 12:45.
Lady Viking Soccer Topples Lakeview
The Siuslaw Lady Vikings opened league play with a 7-2 soccer win over Lakeview Thursday in Grants Pass. Sophomore Mia Goss scored four goals, while Bella Maldonado added two and Clover Holbrook scored one. Goalkeepers Makaia Snider and Sophia Stymans combined for 16 saves. Siuslaw travels to Brookings-Harbor Tuesday before hosting Rogue River next Thursday.
St. Mary’s Defeats Lady Vikings in Volleyball
St. Mary’s of Medford swept Siuslaw Thursday in Far West League girls volleyball action at Glenn Butler Court, winning 25-18, 25-16 and 25-16. Senior Stella Duman led the Lady Vikings with 10 kills, 7 digs and a block. Siuslaw, now 2-6 overall and 1-3 in league, travels to Brookings-Harbor for a tournament Saturday and league play Tuesday.
