Volleyball Battle
The Siuslaw Vikings volleyball team battled back twice Thursday at Sutherlin but came up just short in a five-set thriller. The Bulldogs won 25-20, 20-25, 25-19, 14-25, and 15-13 after rallying late in the final set. Stella Duman led Siuslaw with 13 kills and 25 digs. The Vikings host Glide Tuesday at 6 p.m.
Viking Soccer
The Siuslaw High School girl’s soccer team dropped a 2-0 decision to Rogue River Thursday in the Vikings’ first home match of the season. Siuslaw battled throughout the contest but could not break through offensively as Rogue River improved to 3-1 in league play. The Lady Vikings fell to 1-3.
The Siuslaw Vikings boys soccer team fell to Sutherlin 8-0 Thursday. The Bulldogs led 3-0 at halftime and added five second-half goals. Coach Londi Tomaro said the Vikings battled despite fatigue and created scoring chances that put pressure on the Sutherlin defense.
Football
Siuslaw Viking football will be at home this evening for a matchup against Creswell. The Bulldogs are coming off a 29-26 win against Coquille while the Vikings hope to improve upon last week’s victory over Elmira. It’s the last preseason game for the Viks who begin league play at home against Douglas next week. Pregame on KCST this evening is at 6:45.

The Oregon Ducks are in LA to take on the Trojans tomorrow. The Ducks hope to prove that last week’s thrashing against Portland state is a true representation of the team, but face a tough defender on USC’s home turf. Coverage begins on KCST at 3. The Beavers are in Sun Bowl Stadium tomorrow in El Paso to face UTEP. Pregame on KCFM is at 5pm.
