Here is the latest Washington, Oregon and Alaska sports from The
Associated Press
SEATTLE (AP) – Marshawn Lynch ran for 148 yards and a pair of
first-half touchdowns and David Hawthorne returned Vince Young’s
third interception 77 yards for a clinching score with 4:24 left as
the Seattle Seahawks beat the Philadelphia Eagles 31-14 last night.
Lynch, Seattle’s hard-charging running back, bulled through
Philadelphia for the second-best running day of his career. He
carried 22 times and had touchdown runs of 15 and 40 yards.
UNDATED (AP) – The Pac-12 Conference’s first championship game
caps an eventful week in the league – so eventful that the game
itself between No. 8 Oregon and UCLA seems a bit anticlimactic. The
Ducks are so heavily favored that the attention tonight may not be
on Autzen Stadium’s field, but on the sidelines, where Rick
Neuheisel will oversee his last game as the Bruins’ head coach. He
was fired after last weekend’s 50-0 loss to USC.
PULLMAN, Wash. (AP) – In spending an unprecedented $2 million a
year to hire Mike Leach, Washington State is sending a message to
its Pac-12 rivals: You won’t have the Cougars to kick around much
longer. Washington State is using money to be generated by the
league’s new television package to hire the big-name coach, improve
its stadium, and become more relevant. Washington State is in the
smallest market in the Pac-12.
SEATTLE (AP) – Anthony Brown scored 15 points as Stanford beat
Seattle 72-49 last night. Aaron Bright, John Gage and Andrew
Zimmerman each scored 10 points for Stanford. The Cardinal shot 8
of 17 on 3-pointers. Brown hit 3 of 4 from long range. Josh Huestis
added nine points and nine rebounds. Eric Wallace had 12 points and
15 rebounds and Prince Obasi added 11 points to lead Seattle. The
Redhawks shot 19 of 59 from the field.
