PULLMAN, Wash. (AP) – Mike Leach has been introduced as the new
head football coach at Washington State. Leach was introduced at a
rally in the student union building that included hundreds of fans,
football players and the marching band. Leach replaces former coach
Paul Wulff, who was fired last week after four losing seasons.
RENTON, Wash. (AP) – The Seattle Seahawks have returned from a
four-day break with more changes on an already banged up offensive
line. The Seahawks placed left tackle Russell Okung on injured
reserve yesterday after he suffered a torn pectoral muscle against
Philadelphia. Coach Pete Carroll says that Paul McQuistan will move
from the right guard spot to left tackle to take over for Okung.
Lemuel Jeanpierre will move in at right guard.
RENTON, Wash. (AP) – Seattle Seahawks rookie guard John Moffitt
has been suspended for four games without pay for violating the
NFL’s policy on performance-enhancing substances. The suspension
was announced yesterday. Moffitt will serve the suspension starting
immediately. Specifics of the violation have not been revealed.
PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) – Portland police have no plans to further
investigate a car accident involving Detroit Lions defensive tackle
Ndamukong Suh (ehn-DAHM’-uh-kehn soo) after two women claimed they
suffered injuries in the wreck. The two women, who were not
identified in a police report, came forward a day after the early
Saturday morning accident to say they had been injured. The police
report was amended to include the claims.
NEW YORK (AP) – Jae Crowder hit a 3-pointer from the corner with
6.3 seconds to play and No. 11 Marquette beat Washington 79-77 in
the Jimmy V Classic at Madison Square Garden last night. Darius
Johnson-Odom had 23 points to lead the Golden Eagles in an
up-and-down game that saw 15 lead changes and four ties over the
final 12 minutes. Crowder finished with 18 points. The Huskies fell
to 4-3.
