Athlete of the Week:
Siuslaw basketball standout John Dodson has been named Coast Radio Sports’ Athlete of the Week. The Viking forward led scoring with 16 points in the team’s first victory of the year, a 54-50 win over Junction City. He also helped clinch the win by grabbing a loose ball as the clock ran down, hitting both free throws when he was subsequently fouled. This week’s honorable mention goes to his team mate, Jacob Thompson, who scored 13 points in the Vikings’ Junction City victory and pulled down several key rebounds on both ends of the court.
Prep Boys Basketball:
Siuslaw fell in their opening game of the Bandon Dunes Holiday Invitational to Myrtle Point 50 / 40 last night. Jake Thompson lead scoring on the night with 16 points for the Vikings who move into the tournament’s consolation action against South Umpqua.
