SAN ANTONIO (AP) – Heisman Trophy winner Robert Griffin III
didn’t dazzle but Baylor still pulled out a thrilling Alamo Bowl
victory in the highest-scoring bowl game in history, beating
Washington 67-56 in a record-smashing shootout last night. The game
shattered the previous record for points in regulation set in the
2001 GMAC Bowl. Griffin had an unremarkable night, throwing just
one touchdown pass and running for another.

PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) – Wesley Matthews had 25 points, including
five 3-pointers in the second half, and the Portland Trail Blazers
beat the Denver Nuggets 111-102 last night to stay undefeated after
three games this season. Raymond Felton had 23 points, including a
3-pointer with 1:45 left as the Blazers pulled away from the
Nuggets, who knotted the game at 98 midway through the fourth
quarter. Ty Lawson led Denver with 25 points.

SPOKANE, Wash. (AP) – Olu Ashaolu scored 23 points and grabbed
10 rebounds as hot-shooting Oregon beat Washington State 92-75 on
Thursday in the Pac-12 Conference opener for both teams. Devoe
Joseph added 17 points for Oregon, which shot 69 percent from the
field in winning its fourth game in a row. DaVonte Lacy scored 19
points for Washington State, which shot 46 percent from the field
and saw a six-game winning streak snapped.

SEATTLE (AP) – Tony Wroten powered Washington past Oregon State
95-80 with 26 points, nine rebounds and four assists in the Pac-12
opener for both teams. After controlling the start of the game,
things became tight toward the end for Washington, which improved
to 7-5 overall. C.J. Wilcox added 15 points for Washington. Joe
Burton scored 18 points for the Beavers. Jared Cunningham, the
Pac-12’s leading scorer, finished with 15 points.

SEATTLE (AP) – Aaron Broussard scored a career-high 31 points
and Eric Wallace added a career-best 19 to lead Seattle past
Nebraska-Omaha 91-72 last night in the Elgin Baylor Classic.
Broussard shot 12 of 20 from the field, made all six free throws,
and added 11 rebounds to help Seattle snap a six-game losing
streak. Mitch Albers scored 25 points and John Karhoff added 14 for
Nebraska-Omaha. Isiah Gandy contributed 11 points.

SEATTLE (AP) – San Jose State hit a school-record 16 3-pointers
to beat Coppin State 81-66 last night at the Elgin Baylor Classic.
The Spartans missed their first 11 3-pointers before making eight
in each half en route to their first victory away from home. They
took a school-record 40 attempts and shot 40 percent. Keith
Shamburger scored 18 and Calvin Douglas and D.J. Brown added 14
each to lead San Jose State.

CORVALLIS, Ore. (AP) – Freshman Ali Gibson had 14 points and
Oregon State opened conference play with a 60-55 victory over
Washington last night. Earlysia Marchbanks added 8 points and 11
rebounds for Oregon State, which improved to 10-2 with the victory.
Regina Roberts had 19 points and 11 rebounds for Washington, now
8-3.

EUGENE, Ore. (AP) – Rosetta Adzasu scored 15 points on a perfect
shooting night and teammate Jazmine Perkins had 15 points and 12
rebounds to lead Washington State to a 75-47 victory over Oregon in
both teams’ Pac-12 conference opener last night. Oregon senior
Jasmin Holliday finished with 12 points and 12 rebounds.
