Pittsburgh 67-66 in Game 1 of the best-of-three CBI Finals. Abe

TOKYO (AP) – Hisashi Iwakuma had a shaky return to Japan
yesterday, giving up six runs over four innings in the Seattle
Mariners’ 9-3 loss to the Yomiuri Giants in an exhibition game.
Dustin Ackley hit a solo homer to left in the top of the first off
Yomiuri’s D.J. Houlton at Tokyo Dome. Former Philadelphia Phillies
outfielder John Bowker tied it with a solo shot off Iwakuma in the
bottom of the first. Iwakuma had spent 12 seasons in Japanese
professional baseball.
ISHINOMAKI, Japan (AP) – Members of the Oakland Athletics and
Seattle Mariners got a firsthand look at the devastation from the
earthquake and tsunami on Tuesday when they visited one of the
towns hit hardest by last year’s disaster in Japan. Eight players
and coaches from the Mariners and Athletics went to Ishinomaki on
the northeast coast and later put on a baseball clinic for students
affected by the March 11 disaster.
TUKWILA, Wash. (AP) – English Premier League power Chelsea FC
will play a preseason game in the U.S. for the first time since
2009. The Seattle Sounders announced yesterday that they will host
